Ugh. Don't say that.

Kicker774 wrote:Sure Obama can make a great speech but does he have the substance behind it to make it stick?
Sure the Republican incumbants were doing a shitty job but whos to say their Democratic replacements won't make it even worse?
Just because Obama isn't Bush doesn't mean we can turn a blind eye and assume everything will be taken care of.

There's still much work to do.

Well definitely. Not that the majority of people watched Bush very closely, anyway. Blind faith is a horrible thing.

That being said. I really think Obama has the substance. Sure he gives some pretty speeches, but that's not why I supported and voted for him. He seems very genuine, and seems to respect people. Something the last administration certainly did not do. Just that alone is a huge step in the right direction. There's also the fact that he's very intelligent, funny, and charming. The respect the rest of the world has for us is about to grow tenfold.

The thing that made me trust Obama the most--and I(along with many others' on this board) am VERY cynical about politicians-- but he made me trust him, when he said something along the lines of

"It isn't going to be easy, and I am not perfect, but I can promise you one thing: I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face"

If he did indeed mean that--and I think he did-- that's more than any other Politician has done in the US or ANYWHERE since I can remember.

I first really liked him at the DNC in 2004, like a lot of people. But I didn't get super-excited about the campaign until his Rev. Wright speech in... February? It said so much to me that he didn't just ditch the reverend right there and instead said what any rational person should've said. It was a lovely, honest moment.

Of course, he had to eventually, but things had gotten pretty ridiculous Wright-wise by then.

Anyway, I'm ridiculously optimistic for this next term. Hooray.
I just wanna get out,

I completely forgot about that. He did handle that very well.

Gosh, what will it be like having someone level headed and calm in charge of the country?

I keep reading online that many Christians or otherwise think Obama's the antichrist, and that he's going to carry the world into the "end times" in 2012. Weird stuff but pretty interesting. No idea where they got the idea that he was the antichrist.

I've not heard this.

In fact most of the people I know who voted for prop 8 also voted for him.

2012 Is the end of the Mayan Calendar if I'm not mistaken.

The world is either supposed to come to an end, or humanity evolves into a new level of consciousness.

Age of Spiritual Machines anyone?

You are mistaken.

I bet YOUR calendar ends on December 31st, 2008. That must be the end of the world.

Your right my calendar does stop on 12/31/08. :GASP:

I have a major problem with the way he answers questions. He doesn't actually answer them, he talks around them. Also, he has made so many promises he won't be able to keep, I don't trust him. My last reason is because he rubs me the wrong way. Something about him screams "liar" to me - it has nothing to do with his race or anything like that, I just have an incredibly hard time trusting him, and I think the ecstatic celebrations over his election are a bit premature. I'd like to wait and see how he does once he's in office before I celebrate. I have hopes that he'll be able to "change" things, but I also have my doubts as to how much he'll actually be able to accomplish. Either way I think that many people are in for a huge disappointment when they finally realize we aren't going to be a utopia just because Obama was elected. The fact that people are hopeful is a good thing, but I don't trust Obama enough to bring it to fruition.

They are basing it off of a lot of factually incorrect information that is supposedly contained in the Bible. After receiving one too many of those Obama antichrist e-mails I fired back to the sender with a pretty scathing e-mail of my own. In fact, I also posted it on my blog on xjsb125.com. I'll double post with the original email and my blog entry.

KEEP READING:

This will make you re-think : A Trivia question in Sunday School :
How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations ?
Guess the Answer?
Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.
Almost a four-year term to a Presidency.
All I can say is Lord Have Mercy on us!!!!!!

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will
be a man, in his 40’s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with
persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything .

Is it OBAMA??

I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet…do it!
I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.

From: Dr.

John Tisdale (From another email)

Dear Friends,

As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .’we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . As with so many other statements I’ve heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I’d see the day that I’d hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation–and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.

I hope that each of you will do what I’m doing now–send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list.

With God’s help, and He is still in control of this nation an d all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!

Please pray for our nation!

I received an e-mail like this not too long ago, and a friend also posted it as a bulletin today. It irritates me when Biblical text is taken out of context and put out for the world, most of whom will never take the time to verify what it says. It’s interesting to note that the book of Revelations mentions nothing of the Antichrist being of Muslim descent. It also makes no reference to the Antichrist’s age. It does, however, state that the Antichrist will deny that Jesus has ever come in the flesh. You’ll find similar text within 1 John and 2 John.

The Bible was also written on the Roman Calendar, which runs shorter than the modern Gregorian Calendar that we use today. 10 days shorter, to be exact. That runs the forty and two months mentioned in Revelations even shorter than the 4 year (48 month) presidency.

Barack Obama’s father was, of course, raised Muslim. However, later became atheist. His stepfather, also had no religous preference. Obama returned stateside and joined a church that spent a great deal of its early years trying to overturn the teachings of radical Muslims who were teaching Blacks that they could not be Black and Christian.

Finally, someone please show me where it states that the United States were founded as a Christian nation. I have never, ever seen that stated within any legal document governing our land or setting forth the establishment of it. I thought it was founded by those escaping religious persecution in their own countries. Additionally, the Constitution of the United States guarantees religious freedom.

I believe whole heartedly in God and Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior, but I am increasingly frustrated that people don’t take the time to research what they read. People’s blind ignorance to e-mails and bulletins such as the one below don’t make us better Christians or better citizens. It just makes us better fools.
