Steven "Croc Hunter" Irwin Dies at 44

Postby LifeRiot » 9/4/2006, 12:00 pm

Steve Irwin was killed today in a freak accident in Cairns, Australia. News.com says he was filming an underwater documentary when a stingray barb went through his chest. Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. His wife Terri is trekking on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania and has yet to be told of her husband's death. A government spokesman from his adopted home of Queensland said:

"I don't think we could even estimate how much he brought us through his personality and his profile and his enthusiasm about Queensland. It would be difficult to estimate how much he was worth. And it would be difficult to underestimate."

Irwin is survived by his wife, his daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and his son Bob, 2. Steve Irwin was 44.

(A stingray? A damn stingray? This dude spent 40 hours a day poking dinosaurs with sticks and he gets it from a damn stingray? They're supposed to sting and ray things, not impale people who entertain me. They're damn fish, not Jason. You're not funny Irony. This is why everybody hates you.)

Ohhhh thats so sad.
It's pretty tragic that this is global news and his wife doesn't even know yet. Thats so sad. Poor kids.

His wife knows.

His American-born wife, Terri, was trekking in Tasmania's Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair National Park when the news broke of her husband's death and was last night being raced back to Queensland with her two children Bindi, 8, and Bob, 2.

Oh no! That's terrible! It must be so hard on his family. :(

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

He was such a genuinely good person. He has such a passion for what he did... I wish more people had that.

Hey! You forgot to say Paris Hilton! I'd add her to that list!

Also, yeah Steve was the man. It's too bad he died.

That sucks. When I heard I was so surprised. It would have been so much more fitting to go from a croc.

Or at least for him to have changed his title to "Stingray Hunter" before dying.
