I don't know what I'd do without a car. I grew up in rural Ontario, and now I'm in the burbs of Toronto. Right now I live 10 minutes from work but it would take me 45 minutes if I took the bus.

I bought my first (used) car when I was 17 and have had a few since then, finally able to buy a new car when I was 23 (used cars came with sooooo much trouble)

The only time I abandoned my car was the 8 months I lived in downtown TO.

I hate cars because they are expensive. But I really wouldn't be able to survive without it.

I love driving. I have some speed demon hidden in my somewhere. Highway (non busy) driving > city driving, too many pedestrians wandering about.

you don't want a smart car, i don't care what their safety rating is, collisions are all about momentum, which is mass times velocity, and the bigger vehicle you're in the better off you are.... this explains why a SUV always wins in a collision with a regular car.

I see a few on the 401 here in the Toronto area....

What speed is crash testing done at?

Oy. They do not look safe to me. I've seen too many high speed crashes around here to want to ever get inside one of those. Now if I lived in a smaller town and didn't spend a lot of time on highways where the average speed is 130km/hr I might consider a smart car.
