oh man, I love trips and planning stuff. I got excited when I saw this thread, but then I realized that I was pretty much asleep in London and all I did was touristy stuff in Paris, so I'm not going to be any help. :uhh:

but anyway, I'm going to Europe again this summer, me and my friend liked it so much last time that we pretty much had to go again. anyway, this time we're going to: berlin, praque and then munich, lucerne, and amsterdam again. so if anyone knows anything especially cool to do in any of those places that was be fantastic, espescially the last three cities since i've already been to them and have done the touristy stuff.

Well obviously there are good touristy things and bad touristy things. Like being from Niagara Falls, obviously things like the maid of the mist or the Cave of the winds are good touristy things to do in the falls, much like the eiffel tower and arc de triomphe are good in Paris. However there are tons of tourist traps in Niagara Falls like the various wax museums... so we're trying to avoid those tacky types of things like the London Dungeon.

And Sinead, you gotta stop making posts directed to yourself. People might start to wonder about you (if they already don't).
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Yeah, in Paris we went to the Moulin Rouge, which is admittedly pretty touristy and expensive, but it was actually a lot of fun and I'm glad I went, other than that we pretty much just walked around and went to museums (the Louvre obviously which was amazing and the Musee D'Orsay which I definitely couuld have done without). If you plan on going to museums I suggest a museum card thing because you don't have to wait in lines, which was really time-saving because the D'Orsay line was huuuge.

J-Neli wrote:That's a good point, I bet Gail would be able to tell me if any good bands are in these cities when I'm there. How awesome would that be to see like some Canadian band over in England and be like "ya we came all the way here to see you guys" :D

That's exactly what happened to me. I've been over in England for just about a year, but the first concert I saw just after I got here was Death From Above and Metric :D

As for things to do in London, if you enjoy theatre at all, definitely go to a play or musical in the West End. It can be a bit pricey, but there is a half price ticket booth in Leicester Square for most shows on the same day. Oh, and Billy Elliot is the best. musical. ever.

Hmm... are the Reduced Shakespeare Company still doing shows in London? If they are, GO SEE THEM.

"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. Seriously. We saw it in London's West End on a whim.

Jim - your Key Ceremony tickets arrived :D
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
