Maybe around where YOU're from, but it's certainly not around here. Or anyplace else I've ever been, for that matter.

And if you consider joking about certain aspects of different religions on TV "religion bashing", you really need to find a sense of humor.

I think Sinead is right. While it may not be culturally acceptable to blatantly bash religion, potentially disrespectful language is used all the time. For example, people say "oh my god" over and over without really thinking about what they are saying. It is said completely out of context. Worse, people use the name Jesus as a cuss word without thinking either. Jesus F****** Christ anyone?

Just a theory, but I think eyebrows would be raised if someone came on the CM and said "Prophet F****** Mohammed" or something similar.

Yes, no, maybe?

My friends and I decided that the Pope, having such an important role in religion, deserved to be used in an equally offensive manner.

Thus came about such memorable terms as "Poping Hell!", "Pope you!" and "What a piece of Pope!".

I never said we were actually funny.

I gave up on humor long long ago.

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Also, Nikki, you don't have any empathy for what a religious joke could make me feel.

If it was about vegetarianism, however, you'd be all high and mighty offended. If anyone dare tell you to get a sense of humour about eating meat/not eating it, you'd be furious.

Not exactly. How many TV shows make fun of vegetarians? Tons. Do I get angry about it? No.

Comedy making light of something is entirely different than an actual assault on beliefs. Differentiate.
