Q: How do you improve relations with neighbouring countries?

Serious discussion area.
You realize that sometimes you're not okay, you level off, you level off, you level off...

Q: How do you improve relations with neighbouring countries?

Postby Axtech » 12/18/2005, 10:54 pm

A: Build a fucking wall between the US and Mexico

Also of note, the bill "includes a requirement for the Secretary of Homeland Security to conduct a study on the use of physical barriers along the Northern border."

I'm not sure, but I can say with some degree of confidence that building a physical barrier along the US/Canadian border is a) stupid and b) a violation of a number of treaties.

P.S. Is it just me, or has the US government been very very shifty in the past few days?

Bush's speech tonight came across as especially insincere.

And seriously, his line of reasoning was rediculous: "If you've got problems with me, don't let them move into the war against terror."

:wtf: I was under the impression most people had problems with you BECAUSE of the war on terror...

actually yannic, i think that's a fair enough statement. some people do have a problem with the war on terror because it was bush who initiated it, and people link the war on terror with the pop culture bush-bashing - insults against his mannarisms, speech, etc. rather than the actual pros/cons of the war itself.

wow - I did not see this news story. Yikes! I drive across the Canada-US border all the time... I can't imagine having to go through a "physical barrier"

I never understood the problem with immigration to the US. I mean wasn't this country founded by people who came in and took over with no regard for the people already living here? Now, today, no one is trying to "take over"...they just want to live here among the rest of us and all of a sudden it's a big issue...why? Because they're not white or their pockets aren't lined with US dollars? I don't get it at all.

Because the principals this nation was built on are now no longer helpful to politicians, their wallets, and their agendas.

I hate this place.

I don't think he was talking about people making fun of him. He actually said "You don't have to agree with every action I make." He's the president of the most powerful nation on earth. If he's concerned about such trivial matters...well, I'm sure that's not what he was refering to. He was refering to people that were politically against him, for whatever reason.

i wasn't getting at that entirely. i'm just saying that it's fair enough to ask people to look at the war on terrorism without associating it with bush. *shrug*

a lot of people are against the war on terrorism because of it's leader. it has been speculated that if a different president was at the helm, it is possible that the reaction to the war wouldn't have been quite so vehelmantly negative. it's something to think about, anyways.

I honestly think that if anyone should be building a wall to keep people out, its Canada.

Why would any canadians sneak into America..... To seek a better life?

Well, apart from drug smuggling, but that goes both ways.

there's actually a good deal of illegal immigration from canada to the states. immigrants who couldn't get into the us through the us immigration policy come to canada instead. they then proceed into the us, and settle down. i was doing research on it for a paper a little while ago. there's also gang activity that moves across the boarder both ways, foreigners planning on commiting crimes in the us often try to gain canadian citizenship first in order to flee back to canada in hopes of lighter sentencing, or escaping the law entirely. there are a lot of reasons.

but a physical barrier? that seems unfeasible, and unlikely to stop problems.

We already have a physical barrier. It's called the trans-canada railroad.

it's amazing how we've got this CAFTA shit allowing trade through all of the north and central american continent and yet, as free nations one cannot cross barriers with such ease.

there's nothing wrong with a "Great migration". lets face it, mass migration has been done before, repeatedly over the history of human beings. and yet, because we have government and so called 'intellectuals' at the fucking helm of our great nations, were going to stop a natual thing from happening. i just don't get it.

and that's just what i'm going to call it, another great migration. because that is all it is. americans migrated west, and called it manifest destiny. as a 4th grader, it was mention with great love and it was written in my text book like it was a romance novel. all it really was was the breaking of many treaties with many foriegn countries and natives, and the savage raping of the land. so yes, it is another great migration from the south to the north, and a fucking wall isn't going to stop it.
