This definetly deserves a thread. A high profile conservative MP has jumped ship to the Liberals. Probably, but not definetly, saving the Liberals from a failed budget and a non confidence vote.

Now, my question to you, the audience[And I the giddy ecstatic host] Do you think she just did this for a seat in a Cabinet? Do you think she changed over because she really and truly doesn't agree with/like the way Harper and the Crazyheads are going, with their alliance to the Bloc, etc? Or do you think, she's just, an incredibly smart cookie!

I'll go with, a little bit of selling out, a lot of smart cookie. She's my new political hero.

She was a very liberal conservative, she supported Gay Marriage and such. Maybe the conservatives were just a better doorway for her. She isn't radical enough to be the leader of the Conservatives, the Liberals however..

As for Belinda never being able to be the Conservative leader, I have to highly disagree. Agendas change rapidly, and soon enough if the conservatives really wanted to be in power they would probably have to shift more centrist. Aside from the sponsorship scandal, there is no reason why the Liberals wouldn't win an election, or any future election. The only reason the conservatives are so close is because of the scandal, and I think they'd need to shift to get power. Belinda could have been the person needed to achieve that shift.

I guess now it doesn't matter though. I have a feeling she could very well be our next female PM. She's only in her late 30's, and I would think she has the charisma, intelligence, and leadership qualities to run the country, not to mention she's a pretty face that people like to look at. You need a leader who is appealing to the public and Belinda is definitely that.

I think the funniest/saddest thing is seeing the interviews with Mackay. He is so distraught over these events. It's practically a soap opera.
