1. i never challenged your right to tell me to stop etc. all i wanted was for you to explain the reasons why you were doing it and for you to hear mine as to why i think you shouldn't. i merely wanted to discuss the principle behind censoring me. it's not like i was refusing to stop, in fact i did. i haven't made any jokes of that nature since that thread. it appears though that a lot of what i say offends SOMEBODY on this board and unfortunately i cannot always predict when that is going to happen. however since our little chat you'll notice that i have been apologizing immediately to everyone i offend, even if i personally believe they are over reacting.

I see I've missed lots of posts... I'm doing too much at once and these threads just won't stop moving. Geez.

To your question... it would depend on the circumstances, what I had said, what the reaction was, what my intention was, whether the situation was justified, etc.

For example...

People at my office are offended all the time, their ideas get shot down, sometimes people are not nice about it, and it can affect people's careers. But some of us have jobs as gatekeepers, which is important to making sure that what we do is ethical, the right business decision, legal, will lead to profitability, etc. So in this situation, if someone is upset or offended, I am still justified in shutting down a project. But I try to do it with as much tact and respect as possible.

I don't have the same goals and responsibilities in my social life, or on message boards, so my course of action would be different.

I can count several illogical fallacies in almost all of them. These illogical fallacies do nothing to help your argument they merely draw attention away from any source of logic. I would explain what an illogical fallacy is, but I'm sure such an "extremely well read" individual like yourself will have some knowledge of basic philosophy.
