Okay everybody...let's not tell some kid in some third world country he has rights... and then when he doesn't complain, EVERYBODY's happy!
This is a legitimate question here. At what point did economys in these countrys get horrible? And how was it ever possible that these people managed to survive without the Gap to help them out? And I'm a little confused. How is it that sweat shop labour 'improves the economy' of these nations? How does making barely enough many to survive on while working unhumane hours in horrible conditions while never getting ahead in life while corporations are making money work?
Q: Why would a Free Market economy never work?

just because better conditions exist don't mean that you are automatically guaranteed them.
i know the conditions in my office could be worlds better. but they're not - am i entitled to sit on a cushy pillow and have my own personal fan running so i don't overheat?
no. if you want a job, you take what's available. working in a shitty factory > not working.

it's really very simple.
i. not working = no money
ii. working for the gap = $16 a day.
x 7 days
i. = $0
ii. = $112
x 4 weeks in a month
i. = $0
ii. = $448
results:
i. starves. dies.
ii. eats. lives. saves some of his money so eventually he can have his own shop.
ii. x 100 000 people over 10 years =
stable economy.
this is the only way strong economic conditions have ever been established in any country, ever.
and do you know what happened in those countries after a certain economic plateu was reached? child labour/sweatshop labour went away.
