For some reason they think that it's written in the Bible that the antichrist will be of Middle Eastern descent, then taking that and interpreting that as everyone with ties to the Middle East are Muslim.....which is funny because his father is from Africa. Again, it's people reading into it what they want and creating their own misguided interpretations. If you take a reference Bible and start looking up Antichrist, which is exactly what I did, the only thing you'll find is the denial of Jesus Christ being the number one mentioned characteristic. Maybe some other biblical scholars can show me something otherwise, but that is all I found. As I said, it's all in poor interpretation and failure to check the facts.

Also, he has made so many promises he won't be able to keep, I don't trust him. My last reason is because he rubs me the wrong way. Something about him screams "liar" to me - it has nothing to do with his race or anything like that, I just have an incredibly hard time trusting him, and I think the ecstatic celebrations over his election are a bit premature. I'd like to wait and see how he does once he's in office before I celebrate. I have hopes that he'll be able to "change" things, but I also have my doubts as to how much he'll actually be able to accomplish. Either way I think that many people are in for a huge disappointment when they finally realize we aren't going to be a utopia just because Obama was elected. The fact that people are hopeful is a good thing, but I don't trust Obama enough to bring it to fruition.
I can understand a lot of that, actually.
I completely disregard the "not answering questions" part, because every politician in the world does that, and he's actually slightly better at actually answering questions than most.

As far as his promises go, I think he genuinely wants to accomplish those things. Sure, it won't all be possible, but I don't think anyone interprets campaign promises as actual "promises", more like a wishlist. Regardless, I feel like he's gonna at least try to accomplish the things he's promised, and he actually has come up with ways of doing them which is a very good start.
I guess I don't get the same liar vibes from him that you're getting. But then, I tend to find the good in people to a degree that's probably pretty naive.
Honestly, while a lot of the major celebration and excitement is for him as a person (obviously), I think a whole lot of the crazy OMGness is over his race. I know that personally, that's the aspect that really brought me to tears. Heck, my chest is tightening up just thinking about it now.

(Check it out! I used "happy tears" in an actual correct context! That's gotta be a first.)

Of course I acknowledge the major milestone here for civil rights and all that, but I still don't believe he was the right person for the job, and I'd be celebrating more if I actually felt the person elected was the right person.
Also, John McCain's concession speech was soooooooo amazingly condescending to African-Americans, everyone's saying how he was so "gracious" and he "bowed out gracefully" but he had such a sneer in his voice and his half-hearted shushing of the booers was such an insult.
I don't like either one of them.
