Large fire in TO

Post by Kicker774 »

Word is theres a very large fire their having problems getting under control in Toronto in Queens st. 600 block.

Edge reports that's a lot of hazy smoke in the air.
Fortunatley doesn't sound like there are any casualties.

Hopefully this isn't affecting anyone here.

What is it with places catching on fire recently? First Camden, now this.

In slightly related news (I saw it on the CBC website while I went to look up the fire story), Canadian petrol is reallllly cheap - $1.20/litre max! I can't remember when it cost that much here. It was $2 here when I filled up on Monday - which is the cheapest it's been since before Christmas.

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Canada may not have the amount of taxes on gas the UK and europe does.

Let me try to do the math.

1 Gallon of Regular gas in the States is ~$3

1 Gallon = ~3.8 Liters

$1.20 * 3.8 = $4.56
(US and CAD are ~Par)

$4.56 = ~2.39 Brittish Pounds per Gallon of Gas

$1.20 = ~.61 Brittish pounds per Liter of gas

So working backwards ...
2 GBP = ~$3.94

So yes gas is considerably cheaper on this side of the hemisphere
