don't think i've ever written a song on purpose before... they usually start out as something else. anyways, it needs music still, but here are the words.

--------------------------------
Soap Box

The girl on the soap thinks the world is collapsing
Her lover found another and it makes me want to hold her
And tell her everything will be okay until the day you think about it again
So just turn off your brain and I’ll shut it away
Pack it up and hide it on the top shelf in the garage where no one ever looks
Until they need something to help them build their life up to the way they wish it could be
To the way you thought it would be when you were six and every wrong could be righted
But now all you can do is write it down and hope that box never opens
Maybe one day this will fade and all of the ink will have helped drown it

The girl on the soap thinks the world is ending
Her boyfriend’s cheating and it makes me want to hold her
Because I’ve cried those tears but mine were real and pain is not fair
When it could be boxed away into the TV where hurt is not hurt and it cannot reach me
Life in boxes has its advantages and so does death
oh death in boxes where love is not love and it cannot reach me
because it is packed away so conveniently
like living out of a filing cabinet taking only what you need and the rest is out of sight out of mind until you can face it
one day I will pull you out of your alphabetical spot and empty you all over the floor

that's beautiful.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.
