The doctors said it was your heart, that it was weak
But they couldn't have been more wrong.
It was anything but: caring, loving, sincere, compassionate, meek;
Characteristics that showed your heart was indeed very strong.
Anyone who's met you has had his or her life impacted,
And for me there is a joy I hold dearer than any other;
For this kind, sweet, and generous soul is in fact
The person I take pride in calling my grandmother.
I remember when I found out, I was angry I wasn't there.
Like a photo album, fond memories flashed before me at random.
It was sad to think of the times that will cease to be; it's not fair,
But then my spirits rose, for in my mind, I will still have them.
You see, Gramma, you will always be with me,
Maybe not in body, but in spirit we're still together,
The times we made Christmas cookies, and trimmed the tree,
And when you cared for me, while I was feeling under the weather.
I know you hear me Gramma, and that you're watching now.
I can see your glowing smile, hear your symphonic laughter;
So please consider this an invitation to hear my wedding vow;
Because I'm still planning on your attendance come September.
Love always,
Corey
