Hey, I got to thinking that I haven't written anything in a long time, and then it occured to me that I have so much right now to write about. So, I wrote this, and as soon as I read it over I instantly loved it. It is so strange how something that comes from within yourself can make you inexplicably happy.

------

There is a little love that lives close to my heart
A few beats away, a few steps louder
As your feet pound the floor to the echo in my chest
I smell you and feel you before you are here
With a smile and a clench of the insides inside me
I know that the little love lives

Yeah, okay, that's definitely my favourite thing I've ever written.

Traffic

I mush my feet into the slush.
It's everywhere. Lights
flash and change,
direct my life around
speeding people.
Why did the loner cross the road?
Answer: someone was waiting
on the other side
to change her.
Green.

A gentle shake

Shadow me quietly,
stalk my words until I
hide. Hide me.
Cover me in black sheets
so that the night
will not be as scary.
Fight darkness
with darkness,
add vice from the
balance. Beams.

Show me your eyes, pretty bird
They shine like shadows in the back of my head
Cancel me out, I'm on sale

Tell me your lies, word by word
They float like whispers on the tip of my tongue
Single me out, I'm alone

"Royal Victoria"

I push up the slippery sidewalk
Suspicious of ever being warm again
People have frozen mugs
With ridiculous looks- get me out of here
What they really want is to climb back in
To something warm and safe
Illusions will suffice
Anything but this damned wind

I’m up above the hospital
Walking through my own breath
It’s out in the open now
No more breathing on people in secret
How to bridge the frigid air?
Gasoline drifts to my nose and I breathe it in
Rot my lungs
I need this revenge on my body for containing me
Just one small breath
…HA
What a good pollution-machine I am
I will breathe fresh air onto you
And you will be able to see it

I shape my breath differently now
For a change of pace
From this slogging pace
I mold it into native curses
Colisse mon ostie tabernacle jesu christ
Calveniste anglophone
!!!
These are hiding just under, where you can barely hear them
In the distance women see me
From the women’s reception
See my air
See not what I say!
Winter calls for different secrets.

wicked awesome!
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

i put this in the montreal trip thread but i think it got lost
anyways it belongs in here i guess
it's for boots on her journey to see me.

-----------------------------------------------

Snake your way by train
to my door
The dirty ice will catch you
when feet fail
The underground will lose you
when it breaks
Make your way outside
to the cold.

I'll offer up a place
to refresh
Should the liquor seem
far too bitter
Should the smoke appear
far too blue
I'll make you a space
to recover.

Wandering by night
into dark streets
You don't know the way
that we do
We do things a way
that you don't
Speeding off by night
into stateside.

"Untitled one"

If I drag my fingers along the wall,
I can feel the little bumps.
They’ve been collecting there for years,
Each one feels like a little scar,
But I don’t mind them; their pain is part of me.
Sometimes I must teach myself how to live.

Yes, I am afraid. Yes, the pain is a hard little ball.
When I hold it up and turn it in my fingers,
I am surprised by how small it is,
And by how nothing can ever crack it open.
I don’t remember what’s in there; I hid that in there too.
It moves in my veins by night, heading for my heart.

Should I be looking for the light?
Others say they have found part of it.
They tell me it is a fire, and it warms and saves.
I always thought the fire might eat me,
And so I stayed away from it; I am not food.
I have seen the others, with flames in their hair.

Every now and then, the room is too dark,
And the curtains don’t want to open,
And neither does the door.
So I sink back into my bed, into a daytime nap,
Hoping for sleep to come; it never does.
We are great friends, the blade in my back and I.

"Untitled two"

Deep down somewhere inside me
Is a human. She is native to the planet earth
And she eats lots of things. Animals and plants and water…
She knows simple things. She knows the sunrise
And how the warmth makes your skin tingle
And why to never be alone
And how the cool night steals the colours
And gives more to the shapes.
She feels a beat in her chest and how the grass tickles.
When fish swim through the stream that is not hers
They are art.

"Untitled Three"

Between the start and the finish
There lives a nothing-
He breathes space and feeds on blank.
No longer idle,
He has shaken out the IV.
(sugar is bad for the eyes of others)
The window is open and the curtains are flapping
With the promise of a great escape.
Can you possibly imagine me?
Wrapped up?
Clawing through dirt and wood for the air-
The godless space that hugs the world?
Stir it with your magic finger
and it will move.
From the beginning to the end
There exists a nothing.
He loves me like zero do-
Reaching for alpha, touching omega.

Where did you submit this? I REALLY want to try to get some of my stuff published.
