peace all

Dear Girl

I see her spinning in her chair,
She's pulling on her hair
She's crying her face off.
She wants to hit something,
She wants to hug someone.
But she knows it won't bring it back,
Won't bring back the past.

It's all so much she can hardly bear,
But she has to survive each surge of tears.
These are her cards,
She's starving for a new hand
But only God gets to deal.

Let it go, let it go dear girl
Before you lose yourself in it
Before it chokes you in its grip.
Don't let this pain get so far with you,
Make you so insane,
That you can't weep even when you want to.

Let them in, Let them in dear girl
The ones you fear are the ones you love.
Only they can save you,
From your hand around your neck.
Stick it out, stick it out dear girl,
Let them in, and let them love you.

Meant to be

Postby Sarahlee » 10/12/2006, 10:52 am

Meant to Be

Sometimes I wish
I was someone else;
Not you, not me
not the man in the TV.

Someone with more grace,
Who can live up to the beauty
of her face;
We used to be one and the same,
then the camera looked our way
and she’s disappeared again.

Some nights I can't let go,
and my eyes release
the saltiest of tears,
that's how much I miss her so.

My entire being starves
for her eventual return;
She would never be this lonely,
or shy away from good fortune.

For now my reflection in the mirror,
is the wasteland of my soul.
I pray for her, my love, to come back,
release me from this hell;
Where I’m not with you, with me,
even the man in the TV,
or any of the places
where we were meant to be.

Regret

Postby Sarahlee » 10/12/2006, 10:54 am

Regret

Remorse and regret
How I wish to forget
the mistakes I have made
or better yet, return
to a space and time
when we were more
than just fine.

Should I hold out hope
that things will be
as they should,
or have we all done
the best that we could?

Is it time to unwind,
Can absence make a heart
grow out of its mind?
Am I clinging to something
we can no longer find ...

There's a feeling in my stomach
that won't go away,
There's a mind in my senses
that wants it to stay.

There were so many chances
for this lasting pain
to be taken away,
Will they ever appear again?

My life that was willing
to give itself for yours,
Thought it was meant
to walk through different doors.

And now it is lost
and all that it's got
Is a feeling in my stomach
that won't go away,
There's a mind in my senses
that wants it to stay.

How I miss my words
that used to say,
My alibis will never again
mislead us in our ways.
I wish I was saving
the eyes that are reading
these words that once promised
eternally beautiful days.

Becoming

Postby Sarahlee » 10/12/2006, 10:57 am

Becoming

Once as to an unknown fear
My heart becomes stronger still,
Only to hold close a hand
That levitates my will.

Understanding all I see and hear,
Foraging for my inner peace.
Standing higher than ever past,
This growth that will never cease.

Plainly moving with endurance,
Passing all rocks to overturn;
The road now breaks in two,
Bringing choices that carry scorn.

Left or right is seen by all,
Peering farther down to view
The path that rises after the hardest fall,
It is there I will walk anew.

Weary

Easing into space without regard
For grace, enlists itself
Carrying its burden,
Each step wavering,
Strong, weak, broken.
A confused palm of hope
Reaches 'round the banister
Steadying fears, as tolerance
Knows no shame
And escorts through the door
Once again.

Lost

She whistles at the emptiness,
Yearning for a resonant echo;
Replies abounding of laughter
Make themselves here known.

Long stems she passes by,
Growing through light and rain;
She welcomes another bypass
And stumbles onward again.

Strong are the intentions
To grasp her true sign;
Knowing not where it lives,
Her fear now is benign.

Hunger

Darkness of hunger unabided,
Her lips quiver in want,
Undaunted is her beauty;
Soul's desires never forgot.

Surrounded by sparse walls
Resting sore are her eyes,
Never releasing of fate
Its consistency realized.

Fearing the perpetual morn
A torrential renewal of pain,
Her dreams are of blankness
Blindly passing in vain.

Some of them are really good. You have good moments.
Best advice for any art is to be insanely self critical. To the point where you question everything you write (or draw or whatever) and that way you'll get it down to precisely what you want to say. Even if that's what you thought you did in the first place. :P

Like I said, there are a lot of parts I really like. Clearly very cathartic.
-Sarah

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
