Yay Jenny

*wonders what you're doing with Jen's*
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

A marriage isn't legal in Canada unless it's consumated. I learned that in class, just thought I'd share. *leaves*

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

con·sum·mate (kŏn'sə-māt')
tr.v., -mat·ed, -mat·ing, -mates.

To bring to completion or fruition; conclude: consummate a business transaction.

To complete (a marriage) with the first act of sexual intercourse after the ceremony.

The second one? :freak:

Yes. You must have sex with the person you just married in order for it to be legal.

Can you cite that? Because that doesn't sound right. I mean, there's no way of proving that you have or have not had sex...

I could cite my note or my textbook, or i could find a link somewhere I'm sure. I believe they just take you on the honour system saying that you did have sex.

It would be. But it's in place for some reason. Like you can't marry a millionaire, then an hour later be like "I want a divorce and half this bastards money." The courts would declare it to not be a legal marriage because it hadn't been consummated. I dunno I'll check my notes on monday, I'm too lazy to google it.

hehe. I can see the reasoning behind it. Like being unable to marry an illegal alien just to get them citizenship.

But again, there's no way of checking on consumation specifically. The government does (if shows like Drew Carey have served me correctly) check on newly married aliens to ensure that it is a valid marriage and not just a scam. But I imagine the law wouldn't speak of consumation specifically, since it's entirely possible for a married couple to not have sex.

What about a couple in which one partner is handicapped? Or some guy who got his junk blown off (and not in the good way) while in the army?

I'm not entirley sure. It just says that the marriage must be consummated in order to be legal. I guess if the guy was handicapped or had his equipment blown off, it would have to be consummated the same way that a lesbian marriage is consummated. Remeber it only needs to be done once to be legal.

LOL

Well what if both people getting married are completely devoid of sexual organs? Like... they got into a car accident, and lost everything below their torso. Everything. They're hooked up to machines for bowl evacuation and all that. Are they not legally married?
