we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

The drummer still sounds a little bit like a nervous kid playing in front of his parents for the first time, but it's quite a lot better than the last two.

Sounds good to me.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

because the smoothness of the drums decide whether a song is good or not.

i don't see how you can distinguish smooth playing versus non smooth. they will sound the same if they are both in time and playing the correct beats. please explain so that i may smooth out my beats.

I just said that I "didn't digging the drumming." Also, there were one or two places in one of the first songs where it felt like the drumming and the guitar could have been more precisely in time with each other than it was. Right now the server with the mp3's appears to be down, but if it'll let me download them later, I can listen through and tell you the exact times I'm talking about. I was commenting on the particular recordings and performances, because they could have been more enjoyable for me than they were, rather than the songs in general.

I consider it smooth if it is in time. Not just keeping consistent time, but having each hit be perfectly in time as far as I can distinguish. There were places in these songs that weren't that precise. Again, I don't have the mp3's to listen to at the moment.

Well regardless I think your (Jeff's) new stuff is quite an improvement on the older material I've heard.

Well, i took a listen to all three of those clips and heres what I think:

1. I noticed a definate imrovement in the guitar playing. Which is good.

2. The guitar and the drumming doesnt seem to go well together, in my opinion

3. I have to agree with Josh about the drummer. To me, its like he's not comfortable

4. The music itself - I found it to be very very very boring, bland, repetative un original and un inspired. In all honestly, its just like all the other music out there.

Thats all I have to say about that.

In the first song: 0:36-0:43 The second time, around 1:35, is more listenable, but it's rushed so that it sounds almost like it's a measure of 7/8. But not quite, I think it is actually still common time there.

Second song is mostly small timing issues. Before the 3rd measure after the drums come back in around 0:25, it is dragging a little bit compared to the first measure of hihat. After that there were a few things with the bass drum.

The more recent song the drums need the most work in the section from 0:45 to 1:05.

The first song reminds me of something in a video game! I can't remember which game though.
