I wrote a ballade royal!
(i'm ridiculous)
Ode To The Phoenix
I often dare to wonder what to make
Of countless hours spent in silent thought.
The foolish wind makes noise for noise’s sake,
Howling through trees but saying naught
Of help in finding what I long have sought;
Of Love’s immortal pain and falt’ring grace --
A fallen angel, landing on her face.
But O, to see the one for whom I long
As once again the air inflates her chest;
A final gasping breath of broken song,
A moment’s gift before that timeless rest
That steals the only thing that’s ever blessed
This wretched life of mine with happy light --
Once gray, now starkly cast in black and white.
I watched your ashy limbs disintegrate
Into a darkened heap. The golden key
Is born anon in arms of holy fate.
Awaken, fiery eyes, that you may see!
And loose the bonds of soil, and set thee free.
Shalt rise again from earth’s revolving trap,
And join the choir in the thunderclap.
My soul yet aches for freedom from its pen:
Fair Muse, delay your necessary flight
And lay with me ‘til I am well again;
My wings are bent and waning in their might.
How covetous am I of such a height,
The like of which is rivalled by the length
Of time I’ve spent confounded by your strength.
