August 22nd, The Vic Theatre, Chicago, IL - Recording Available

Postby shadowraven » 8/6/2009, 9:50 am

Going to try to tape this show, same as I did in 2005. Hoping I don't get shut down. Any tips on getting the venue to let you tape OLP? Will they talk to the venue for you? I taped at the Vic in 2005 and almost got caught. Well, I did get caught but I ran, so you have the recording ;)

The Vic is fine with bands that allow taping. I just wish OLP would inform the venue.

Matt (xjsb125) can probably tell you who is your best bet to get in contact with for this type of thing -- but in general taping OLP is a stealth job. It will not hurt to ask. The band doesn't have a taping policy per se, they have just in general been aware that some of us tape their shows and haven't said anything to suggest that they're against it.

Thanks for taping that show last tour, and good luck this time around!

I went, and taped. was a standard set, pretty short - like an hour and 20 minutes.

So it seems they're switching out Naveed and Denied now. They also seem to be switching out Thief and Life for what goes in In Repair.

I was one of the lucky few to attend the soundcheck in Chicago. Thank you again! Unfortunately Raine's throat was not doing good, so he was sleeping in the bus during it all. Steve, Jeremy, and Duncan played the following songs:

One Man Army
Paper Moon
The End Is Where We Begin
White Flags
Angels/Losing/Sleep
Clumsy

I requested Mafia to be played in the show but Jeremy said not this time, maybe in the winter... In the winter?!

I actually won the soundcheck pass too - however, due to personal problems I could not attend unfortunately. Fortunately my recording of the actual show came out well. Raine's voice was crap tonight though, he couldn't hit any high notes - I figured he was sick.

That's awesome. I really need to see them again this fall/winter.

Something tells me with these last two years of high school I'm in, I'll be skipping so many days for OLP shows...

Actually Raine has been sitting out a few soundchecks. Or he will come on later. YOu have to remember he is using his voice alot this tour. Not just the shows, but the accoustic sets and radio performances. It has to be killer on the vocals..

As for songs. They took out Naveed and The End Is Where We Begin and put in Escape Artist and Bring Back The Sun. Then it was Naveed and Denied.. In Repair is mostly Life, but they have done Thief at two shows with it..Depends on their mood..

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

they're not playing that much more than previous years. In fact probably a lot less than 01/02.

I just thinking Raine finally realized he can't pull off falsetto as a "thing" every show anymore, so they moved away from it. Which sucks because that's their signature sound and what makes them different. I understand if it's not in the newer songs for this reason, it just bums me when I hear old songs played live without it because he can't hit it anymore :(
