At the Milwaukee, WI show on June 27th (I drove from St. Cloud, Minnesota... So, I drove 7 hours to see OLP) it was quite rainy before the band hit the stage... but it was well worth getting a little wet for. It started off when the road crew or who ever put up a huge "Burn Burn" cover behind the Drum kit... It added so much to the show and the band wasn't even on stage yet.

We made our way to front row, right on the fence... amazing spot. The rain officially ended with a drizzle and the band came onto the stage and the crowd cheered much louder than I expected. By the way, the crowd was a very, very good size, being Saving Abel and KISS were also playing elsewhere at the festival. OLP opened with "Naveed". The song started a little rough, but that changed quickly and the perfection of the show continued from there. During the bridge of "Superman's Dead" the crowd went crazy and and Raine and Duncan looked at each other and they had this genuine smile of "Holy Shit, this is awesome". Then Raine went to say that after not coming to Summerfest for 7 years, that they definitely are coming back. Also, in the words of Raine Maida: "Fuck, KISS" and "This is gonna be a better show than KISS". The only disappointments with this show was that it seemed too short and there was nothing off of "Happiness..." and "Spiritual Machines". The bridge in "Monkey Brains" wasn't played, but that's nothing too big. "Clumsy" was amazing... one mentioned that Raine misspoke the words... it wasn't that big of a difference... especially when the song rocked so much. And it's their song, they can do what they please. "Paper Moon" was amazing as well, but everyone knows that already. "The End is Where We Begin" really didn't click with me just yet... it does pick up a lot from what was heard on the 30 second clip, but I need to hear it quite a few more times. "4AM" was breathtaking... the way he sings that damn song is just perfection. My Mom (who was there with me, my brother and my girlfriend; I got them all hooked on OLP), said that the powerfulness in his voice brought a tear to her eye. It was truly awesome. "Denied" ... enough said. They owned this song so hard. During "Starseed", Raine made his way to the crowd and held up one of the videographers cameras and panned the crowd with it. Great way to end the show. Jeremy threw his sticks into the crowd, causing people to go crazy and causing a bull of a man to practically headbutt my mom... don't worry she's fine. After the show, maybe 15 people just kind of stood around by the gate where OLP's bus was and tried to get the bands attention. Steve eventually came over and was signing things. I was waiting to get his attention when my girlfriend asked if that was the drummer behind us... of course I didn't really pay attention, Steve was signing things two feet in front of me. But sure enough Jeremy was right behind me and I finally noticed. As he signed the schedule thing I had he would shake it in front of these two guys' faces saying "Guys, I'm right here." But they were to busy trying to get the bands attention... they eventually heard Jer.

Side Note: Raine's voice was spectacular... he hit all the falsetto parts amazingly. Whoever says he's losing his voice is an idiot. The opening falsetto of "Naveed" was the only 'poor' falsetto and even that one was great.

Nice to see Raine really getting into Monkey Brains.

I'm still hoping a video of The End Is Where We Begin surfaces...

I'm listening to Paper Moon right now. It's great. Raine's voice sounds solid, and everyone else sounds great.

PS: I love Jer's shirt in your picture together. "Not Everything Is Flat in the Prairies." Yeah, Jeremy, that's a shirt a woman would wear, is it not? Hahaha.
