CM Warchild Benefit concert

Postby crustine » 1/30/2006, 7:21 pm

Hey all,
After that horrible assualt on Much we were talking about trying to put together a private concert. Here is a call to all of those with connections to try to ascertain how much it would cost for a small scale concert in toronto. We rent the venue (heck it could be a church hall for all i care--actually that would be a blast) and provide what ever they want and in return they have a concert with the absolutely best energy. The return for them is sooo there.

oh wow...i mean as much as we've all been dreaming.....impossible? :(

and i don't know, it doesn't seem fantastic to burden our "connections" quiiiite that much. the people we know have been great to us. i'd feel kind of selfish.

Even though I live in BC and this doesnt affect me anyways.. I think this is too unachievable. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I don't think this is going to be possible.
I don't do sigs.

well i got no connections...but if there is something i can do to help make this happen...i am willing....although i must agree it seems a little far fetched
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

The only way this is feasable (in my mind) would be if the band would play for free or at a VERY reduced rate... and I would never ever ask them to do that, and none of us should because it's rude. So... yeah. If we can somehow get them to do that without asking... it could happen. :happytears:

See, the problem with someone like us doing a benifit concert for someone like warchild, is that we arn't warchild.

just remember when the stones played the Elmo they didn't get payed they wanted to reherse with feedback. Don' t you think we could be so kind as to provide the boys with the same curtosy? I know they didn't get payed 30K to play at Mod. Anything is possible.

The thing is. A charity show is made to raise as much money as possible. Meaning, you get as many people there as possible. But we're selfish and want to have a CM only concert, and that's the whole idea we were talking about. So mixing the few of us with charity doesn't really work.

They didn't get paid 30K because it was a big publicity opportunity - so there was more to what they got out of it than just the cold hard cash.

And they know what feedback we'll give - we're their biggest fans (at least those of us who turned up would generally be) so of course we're gonna love it. If they wanted a critical focus group type dealie then they'd want a nice cross section of people.

Plus what Nikki said.

The stones played the Elmo all the time. they played under different guises so they could just remember what it is like to play a club and they just like the place. Granted their last club gig was a attention grabber. Anyway it is beside the point which is if we persue it there is always the possibliity. the concept for charity was mine, and although it is hoped to raise money it isn't always what happens. As i said dan ackroyd had a charity gig a couple of months back and raise 2 grand for the people in a small village to offset the cost of moving off their septic system onto a public system. Two thousand is not a ton of cash but no one was criticising. Every dollar counts. Heck if we raised 5 grand (which is say 100 bucks a ticket) that would go a long long way for these children.

a lot of people here can't afford $100 a ticket. there would probably be very few cmers who would make it with travel expenses + ticket price.

it's a nice fantasy; but the reality is we can't really make it happen - we have not the resources at our disposal, nor the right to ask the band to perform.
