I'm looking to get me an MP3 player, but I think I might be out of luck...
I want something that will hold over 2gigs (perhaps 5).
Of what I have been able to find, they all go up to 246megs, then jump up to 10gigs (iPod) or even 40gigs. However, the 10-40gig range costs at least $500 (canadian).
wow i didn't know i could afford those things, i think i might get one now. Can you guys tell me what the diffrence between Hard Disk, Built-In, and Micro is? Which type of memory would you suggest?

get a mini disc player TRUST ME...you can fit about 40 songs on one mini disc and a pack of 11 mini discs only costs about $10. If you put lower quality on songs you can fit even more on. The players are much more durable as well. I did research on this a while back and I am happy with my Sony Minidisc player.

a good place to look for reviews of products and such is cnet
they have a really good section for mp3 players specifically and from my reading there, i'd say the diamond rio 1.5 gig one is really good.. i cant remember the specific model
also
rob what kinda minidisk player do you have? like what model of sony?
Also, minidisc players are way more economical. They take one double A battery, which will last you about 56 hours. I actually get around 70 with my Sony one. However, I find it a pain to carry around my 15 minidics all the time, when I could just get a hard drive player and fit them all on that. gear.ign.com do good reviews of these products. If you need to know anything, go there.

i have the $100 mini disc player...and just choose one disc to take around each day you dont need all 15..40 songs is plenty for me. And you just use a USB cable.
I considered a mini-disc player, but when I finally do upgrade to better convenience, I want to go all the way. No more carrying around anything extra. Just one unit with all the music my heart desires.
then when you lose all that music your heart desires and the money it cost you will regret it. That is why i went with a $100 thing instead of more then $200 but perhaps you arent as absent-minded as i
