I'm glad to hear that the Tampa Bay Bucs (already realizing they fucking blow) are going to release the key veterans in their franchise. Minnesota should scoop up Joey Galloway. Have him line up opposite of Berrian.

A snooze-fest is about to get even more boring!

The annual NHL GM's meeting is this week. ESPN reporting tonight that the meeting's hot button topic is stricter penalties for fighting.

Greeeat... Make a horribly dull sport even more dull. Makes sense.

espn reporting hockey news
now THAT is a fucking joke in itself

a) they arent eliminating fighting.
b) they increased penalties are strictly to goons who conduct "staged fights" and who's play takes a spot away from guys who actually have skills and can play the game.. case in point: daniel carcillo now of the flyers, a 20 goal scorer last year and a guy who'll drop em, steve ott a 20 guy capable of 20 goals and will drop em with anyone as opposed to guys who's role on the team is to skate out onto the ice.. talk to the other enforcer during the faceoff and then fight 3-5 seconds after the faceoff because thats "what theyre supposed to do" thats not hockey thats WWE style BS. hockey fights ala jarome iginla and vincent lecavalier during the stanley cup finals? thats REAL hockey and real hockey fights which no one is going to get rid of.

ESPN has treated hockey like shit for a while now.
back in the day they had that 30 min hockey show (i think it was called NHL 2night or something) w/ john buccicross and i believe barry melrose or darren pang forget which.. no wait.. chicken parm... ummm. ray ferraro.. back then they actually had some semblance of respectable reporting for hockey.. they cancelled the show while they still had the contract for the NHL, and replaced it with just about everything (ie. paintball.).
they'd promote the fuck out of the NBA or nascar or anything else EXCEPT for hockey... all the while they were the official broadcaster of the NHL in the states... then they complained that their ratings were poor and all that.. well no fucking shit... i wonder why. as a whole they treated the sport like crap (thats not to mention the many many jokes they had about the sport most of which were dumb and not actually remotely funny (most of which were just based on stereotypes and crap which i dont like for the most part.. cept if its russell peters but thats cuz us brown guys gotta stick together).. as a whole it was bad
although i will say they appear to be somewhat heading towards the right track by their recent hire of pierre lebrun from the canadian press and having damien cox from the toronto star (i think its the star.. im 90% sure he writes for them).. anyways now they have actual people who are on par or close to being on par w/ the guys they have for other sports like andy katz, jayson stark, peter gammon, etc
it wouldnt surprise me if the move to bring in lebrun was related to them getting the nhl back (i think theyre getting it back at least) but if they treat the sport better it will do better for them as opposed to what they got in the past. it'll especially be good if they actually broadcast in HD because hockey is actually significantly improved in HD (more so than other sports IMO and ive watched hockey, football and i think tennis in HD)
football the clarity is great and all but it doesnt really add THAT much vs standard def but hockey is a lot better (due to speed and the size of the puck relative to the ice surface/players/etc is why if i were to venture a guess).
go fuck yourself.

Brodeur sure took his sweet ass time cutting that net apart last night....

Why couldn't they just give him the entire net? Frame and all. Would've made more sense. Bring out another net and continue the game.

In shit-tastic news. An NFL vote today decided AGAINST re-vamping the current overtime system in the NFL. How fucking rediculous. It honestly pissed me off....

Dammit! I should've done a bracket. I knew W. Kentucky would pull off that win vs. Illinois.
