PC Games

Post by Axtech »

I'm bored out of my frigging skull. I need a new computer game (I want a PC game right now. I'm giving the PS2 a rest).

So, any recommendations?

Depends on what kind of games you dig and what kind of rig you're running.

If you've got the system for it, Battlefield 1942 is a must have as far as action games go. I've also heard good things about Unreal 2, and Unreal Tournament 2003. The former is more half-life-esque, and the latter is balls to the wall action. God I love that phrase.

For RPG's, it comes down to three titles: Dungeon Siege, Morrowind, and Neverwinter Nights. I've played all three of them, and they're all absolutely fantastic. Dungeon Siege is kinda like Diablo on a big scale, so it's a pure treasure gathering, level gaining, hack fest. Morrowing is fucking enthralling, there's no other word for it. Only thing is, it takes a lot of time, in every respect. The world is gigantic and there's no restriction on your travel at any time, but you've also got few methods of travelling the distances, and the in betweens - while beautiful - can be a bit sparsely populated. Otherwise, it'll suck your life away. Neverwinter Nights is my favourite lately, being a D&D title that's the best such game since Baldur's Gate.

And if you want a good RTS, for the love of GOD get Warcraft 3. Sure, Starcraft is classic, but it's so damn old.

And... I'm a game-nerd.

Thanks for all your suggestions. :)

I'm still not sure what I want though... :freak: It's a matter of deciding what I feel like playing before I narrow it down to an actual game.

Actually, I know two games that I want, but neither of them come out until September. Half-Life 2 and Halo (PC). Damnit, that's all I want to play right now.

Maybe I'll try out Unreal. I love UT, and this could hold me over until H-L2.

Neverwinter Nights = The Shit
I hear Dark Age of Camelot is awesome, but I haven't played it, so I don't exactly know what it's all about. Somebody here must have it.

Grand Theft Auto - Vice City is out for PC now

I don't recommend Postal 2. The load times are ridiculous, and the space you can move before it loads again is about the size of a postage stamp.

Splinter Cell is fantastic for PC if you like a challenge with being stealthy and shizzle.

If you can run it, Battlefield 1942 is multiplayer greatness. You can fly planes and drive vehicles. Mmm!

I can't think of anything else at the moment. It's early.

You can always check out http://www.pcgamer.com for stuff :)

I have 50gigs total. 40 on one, 10 on the other. The 10 is my main drive, with XP and related stuff on there (also any perminate programs). Then on the 40 gig I have games and media.

I can run pretty much any game right now. I just need to find one that I want to buy. I'll probably go to the mall after school.
