Do Canadians actually learn in school that they burned the White House?

This girl in an acting troupe from Toronto that I met told me that they burned the White House... and I was like "They teach you that Canadian propoganda in school?! It was the British!"

Well, the British controlled Canada, the way they controlled our colonies. But they were still considered British subjects then I believe. Therefore, would it not be the British who did it?

Canada was still British at that point. We were the Dominion of Canada. Our forces, canadians and british, who were countering the attack from the States, were the ones who burned down the White House.

A+
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
