it's a potato festival...as in that town and the farms surrounding it are well known for their potato. chances are they send every good potato to market while the small underdeveloped or not acceptable potato is put into this mashed potato wrestling ring.

yeah man every small town has to have a festival...

crystal city "spinach capital of the world" - spinach festival
poteet - strawberry festival
alice - fiesta bandana (cinco de mayo celebration)
san diego - pan de campo festival
rockport - shrimporee

you get the idea.

I saw on the Food Network a town that had a garlic festival. They made everything out of garlic including garlic icecream. :freak:

Spain has a tradition, (or at least I believe it is spain), were they have one day of the year were everybody sells wheels of cheese one specified street, the wheels of cheese are usually aboud 5-8lbs of cheese, and I think I have read on the wheels being up to even 25lbs. :)

 we do locker trashing days on the 18th of every month when we remember and arent to lazy. what me and a friend plan on doing is freezing a couple cans of shaving creme :P and cutting it into peices and keeping it iced so it doesnt thaw. after school we're going into another 2 freinds shared locker and ziplocking their books and whatnot. then we put the slices in. Duct tape to seal the locker, and presto! it thaws and expands for the next day

 my friend found it on the internet

a couple months ago we tried filling it at least half way with popcorn. But we had like 15 bags and only got about 7 of them in there cause it smelled and there were teachers in the area. I learned something from it though so hopefully we'll be able to do it again later. Except that one's a waiste of food.
