it's good that it's high
people will start trying to conserve, find better ways of transportation, and its better for the environment.
gas is a finite source, and methinks we've hit the oil peak. there's no where left to go except down (supply speaking that is). unless we want to start drilling into the ocean or some northern arctic desolated area.

im all for alternative energy sources and the like
speaking in terms of the current situation however, i think prices should go down as long as the refineries and distrubution centres etc get back online and operating at full capacity soon

there comes a point when the cost of producing oil will exceed the cost of producing alternative energy sources. however, what most people don't realize is that oil is used for everything - fertilizers, drugs, food, pumping water, manufacturing - you name it, it's probably made using oil as an energy source. now if the stocks of oil continuing depleting, then there won't be enough oil left to produce clean energy sources. and what will happen is that we will all die, fighting each other for the last drop of black.

solar power energy - not viable at this point. though you have an infinite amount of energy, in your liftetime you will not regain the energy you actually put into making solar cells.
hydrogen fuel cells - people don't realize that you have to get hydrogen from somewhere, and that takes energy. ie. oil
wind power - that's possible, but you also have to construct the turbines.

My plan? Use solar cells to generate the power needed to create hydrogen fuel cells. Maybe that would work?

doesnt matter what material its made out of, you still have to put energy in making:

metals like steel, superalloys
ceramics and coatings
and CFRP and composites

Gas has been about 1.25 recently here.

Luckily, it cost me about $0 to fill up. I heart my bike/longboard.

yeahit's 1.19 per litre here and i thought that was pretty bad, of course this perfectly consides with my lifeguarding job ending for renovations, and my buying a Blazer and selling my fuel economic car.

its good to fill up car once tank hits 1/4 mark.
i drove a car once when there was no gas in the tank. it was clearly running air, i had to coast it in neutral and still the engine was sputtering, that was when i was making deliveries for an autoparts store.
