I had the exact same assignment, but that was in high school, and you're in college, you are reno, right?

I did my speech on conformity, basically saying Canadians are conformist because we are conscious of the fact that we are an inferior culture compared to the states, that's why we have commercials boasting "I AM CANADIAN". It's not a wonder that Americans apply the Canadian stereotypes of "eh" and "all Canadians love hockey", because we embrace these stereotypes. That's basically what my speech was about, some agree, but some got offended and that made my day.

Anyway, why don't you talk about small town politics, I assume you can just pick any post you made here on the "Welcome to this World" forum and just use that as your speech. :P

I don't know about Texas, but if I live in a more conversative state, I think I would do Christianity and Nietzsche.

yeah i'm in college, and this is my final for my speech class.

I walk into class today, ready, i stayed up till 2AM central time typing this long ass ranting about how censorship is bias. that many people want to censor music but books are often overlooked and what not. i was ready, and everything, i sit down, and the teacher announces those of you here today get A's as your final grade. and that was that. all this ranting, and hard work.....for an A, that i didn't have to work for. somehow in the back of my head, i kind of saw this comming, and that's why i waited so long, but i typed it us as a precaution. oh well....... :freak:

i did mine on the same thing this year! lol my whole argument was based around Kurzweil's book.

but yeah it also went over the head of everyone in the class. my speech was followed by one that explained why generic shampoos are just as good for your hair as designer brands.

As soon as I went back to my seat, people complained that I had too many big words in my speech. Oi!
My speech was followed up by an improvised speech on why the Toronto Blue Jays are going to suck this year.

I would do one on how parents shouldn't be afraid of disciplining their kids. You can't so much as spank your kid without having to worry about getting thrown in jail. This is why we have asshole teens that look at you funny, play in the road and won't get out of they way, and loot and crap. Damn kids.
