"brutal murder"

So I was just passing through my living room where it just so happens the 11 o'clock news is on and, in passing, I heard the reporter mention a "brutal murder". Now I know I've heard that phrase on the news and elsewhere countless times, but just tonight, it struck me as odd...a BRUTAL murder??? Like as opposed to the kind and gentle variety? :Johnathan:

i guess by brutal they mean more violent? as opposed to slipping someone a pill.

Maybe the victem was feed into a wood chipper or hacked to bits with a machete

Most likely not. The news likes to use that word a lot to get shock value. It's disgusting, really.
