Batman Begins

I thought it was said that Batman Begins was supposed to be really accurate to the comic books, but it seemed to me that it really wasn't. Instead of being trained by a detective, and his parents being killed by a bank robber, it was ninja's and Ra's Al Ghul. And as I recall, Alfred didn't show up until long after Batman Began, let alone when he was a child.

I'm Not complaining that they changed things, I just thought they weren't going to change that much.

There are a bunch of different origins of Batman myths. I always thought that his parents were crazed by a crazy homeless person during the depression. As for the training, this one just makes more sense, with the martial arts and what-not. Also, if you read the comics they had a pretty lengthy storyline with the League of Shadows in it. Go to www.batmanbegins.com and click on "comics" to see a bunch of different origin stories.

There are a bunch of different origins of Batman myths.

Are there really? All the one's I've ever seen in comic form have matched up, save for a few insignificant details. (whether they were in an alley or on a normal street, whether it was a play or movie they can back from, etc.)
I never thought that Batman was really using marshial arts, so he easily could have just trained in boxing and the like, in "The Untold Legend of the BatMan" Harvey Harris (detective I mentioned) taught him boxing and fingerprinting over the summer, and then he trained himself as best he could, claiming he could have been olympic material at 18 if he'd wanted to do that instead of criminology.

One of our truck unloaders got to meet Adam West at a comic book convention in Knoxville yesterday, along with Lou Ferrigno. When I asked if Lou is still freaking mammoth, Cecil said "I would't fuck with him."

This movie was absolutely amazing. Extremely well done, not just as a Batman movie, but as a movie all on it's own.

I loved this movie more than I love taffy, and I'm a man who enjoys his taffy.

I got that for my birthday! It was amazing. It had shark attacks and the batcopter and a superdehydrator and everything!

I was going through searching my old action figures online, and they're worth like gazillions of dollars! By that I mean, $20-100 USD. That's insane! I bought a Batman action figure yesterday

Actually good sir, you are incorrect for a few reasons! (You should expect this from someone like me since most of our conversations are about movies. At least you're being topped by a friend this time!)

The first Batman movie was actually called "The Batman" and was from 1943. Unfortunately Mayor Adam West wasn't a part of this venture, instead actor Lewis Wilson played Bruce Wayne/Batman. I tried to find a picture of the original Batmobile online, but can't find it. I have it in a book around here and it's really freaking cool looking. So plain, but it's awesome. I'd love to be rich and own both the 60's one and the 40's one! Anyway, here's some trivia about the first movie and also a link!

*This serial introduced the underground headquarters, the Batcave, which were later incorporated into the comics.

* When the "Batman" (1966/II) television series became a national sensation, Columbia struck new prints of all the episodes of this serial and released them under the title "An Evening With Batman and Robin". There was no added footage. The program simply consisted of all of the episodes (complete with titles, credits and cliffhangers - exactly as they were shown in theatres in 1943) presented one after the other in one sitting.

* Because of the strict serial regulations, Batman and Robin were portrayed as FBI agents in the serial. In the comic strip at the time, however, they were vigilantes. The regulations also prevented the writers from using the Batman's Rogues Gallery, so none of Batman's villains appear in this serial and the one made in 1949.

* The character of Alfred in the comics was introduced to conform to the fact that in the film Bruce Wayne had a butler. However, the Alfred in the comics was drawn as very chubby and clean shaven, while William Austin, who played Alfred wore a mustache and was slim. Soon after the release of the film, the comics character grew a mustache went to a health spa where he lost weight. From then on, the comics Alfred has resembled the William Austin image.

BUT WAIT!

You didn't think I'd quit there did you? Nope! The 1960's Batman movie (which I also have on DVD since everyone's bragging) wasn't even the 2nd Batman movie!

The second from 1949 which was called Batman And Robin and FORTUNATELY not starring George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell (since they weren't even born yet) this time starred Robert Lowery as Bruce Wayne/Batman. If you guys are huge movie fans like I am, you might recognize Lowery from a really great film called God's Country. I highly recommend this film, even though it's so old! It's nothing special by today's standards, but it's still great writing.

Batman creator/writer Bob Kane had input in both of these original Batman movies. Although many people don't consider the second to be an official movie, because they were called "movie serials" (which were shown initially in theatres) were actually seperated into 15 parts like episodes, when they actually had an airing on television a few years later, they were actually aired in two parts and intended to be seen as the full movie which wasn't possible during it's initial run.

The cool thing about this second movie/series is that you can actually buy the DVD's of the episodes. They have the 2 disc DVD set at Wal-Mart now!

*Vicki Vale would become a common character in the Batman comics after this film. Bob Kane based her image on Marilyn Monroe, whom he met during the film's banquet.

I don't know if the box will actually only say "Batman And Robin" like it shows there, it's like that here in Canada, but supposedly the U.S. reissue title is "An Evening with Batman And Robin" Oh yeah and the supposed reissue title of the 1943 one "The Batman" is actually called "Evening with Batman" Confusing huh?

i saw this last week. i love Batman.

katie holmes kinda did suck though. She shows no emotion what so ever. I'd rather watch a brick....thats my opinion
