Re: Uncasville CT show - tickets available

I just got back from the show, so thought I'd post a review. The band sounded great, but unfortunately, there were some disappointments.

The disappointing:
1) The crowd was pretty lackluster. Most of the people on the floor appeared to not move a muscle for the entire length of the show, and the ...

Re: Uncasville CT show - tickets available

The Uncasville CT show is a weird outlier. The show is being held at the Wolf Den in Mohegan Sun, which is a free venue, first come first served, for which there are almost always no advanced tickets, unless you are a high-roller at Mohegan Sun. What that means, is that you'll have to just go ...

Re: Favorite Concert Moment of 2012

There were a few for me... Hearing Birdman at Bowery Ballroom for the first time in who knows how long was just awesome (despite the crowd's lackluster reaction to it) I love that song. At the same show, hearing Starseed. I know that sounds weird because the song's such a staple, but it's always ...

Just something to tide you over

I was browsing youtube and found that someone had posted the entire New Years Eve 2012 concert, including OLP's full set.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNm-cdYIXsA

OLP starts at around 38:00 and goes for about a half hour. I know it's not as exciting as new tour dates, but like I ...

Re: Gravity to HIPT

All this talk about HIPT left me with a question...

OLP seems to hate Where Are You, I think even saying that they'd probably never play it again... Does anyone know the back story to this? I mean, I love the song and it certainly doesn't stand apart from other OLP songs in terms of inferior ...

Re: Irving Plaza, NYC 7/31

Tattooed, don't get me wrong - I agree, OLP played a killer show. Like I said, one of the better ones I've seen (certainly one of the better ones in the past ten years.) Regarding 4am, I know there's no rule that they must play certain songs - I was just surprised, that's all.

And like I said ...

Re: Irving Plaza, NYC 7/31

"Can't remember first spoken word.
2nd one was THE ABC's Of Roger
the one into Starseed is Time For Relax"

Thanks for the info.

An open letter to Raine (and the gang) concerning Jared Paul

An open letter to Raine (and the gang) concerning Jared Paul and Irving Plaza: July 31, 2012

Dear Raine (and the rest of the band),
I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss the Jared Paul incident at Irving Plaza outside of the confines of 140 characters.

First, my credentials: I've been an ...

Re: Irving Plaza, NYC 7/31

Just got back from the show and I thought I'd share my thoughts. What a weird/interesting show tonight was. But all in all, actually one of the better OLP shows in recent memory. It wasn't all good though. Here's my review, in case anyone's interested.

First things first - echoing ToddDowney's ...

Re: Do You Like It?

Who knows why any songs are ever dropped or added to the setlist (other than Whatever - that one's pretty obvious). We could start a whole thread (and I'm sure there's already been threads) about what songs should be added. I, for one, am always hoping to see Neon Crossing or Everyone's a Junkie - I ...

OLP shows online?

Every once in a while, I see that there's full concerts on sites like Youtube, and I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any older OLP (full) shows online. I'd love to see the video of a full show from like 95-02 or so... Anyone know of one?

Irving Plaza, NYC 7/31

Really surprised there hasn't been a thread about this yet, seeing as the show's only 3 days away. Who's going? Anyone else as excited as I am?

Re: The Bowery Ballroom-NYC April 5th

Who ever said the show being so-so was the audience fault, where were you? I was front row center and everyone around me was singing and into the show.... I do not remember him asking the crowd to sing Paper Moon at all?

2nd thing first: He didn't outright ask the crowd to sing during Paper Moon ...

Re: The Bowery Ballroom-NYC April 5th

Just got back from the show, and thought I'd post a review. Sorry, it's gonna be a long one.

All in all, it was a good show. Not one of their best, but not one of their worst either. I've now seen OLP 14 times, at least once every pass through NY (except for when they were promoting Happiness - I ...

There are a couple -
I was at the 2001 Birch Hill show that Tattooed mentioned, where they took requests, and it was great - but their show, right around that time, at Irving Plaza in NY was maybe the greatest concert of all time. If I was forced to choose stand outs, they'd probably be OMA and ...

Didn't even know that creed was a part of that show...
Just remember hearing that they (olp) would be in town and for some reason or another (school, maybe?) i wasn't able to go... damned higher education...

I saw D-Gen at Coney Island High, too - we may've been at the same show (small world...) And yeah, Jesse had a stake in that club...
Saw a few great shows there, including seeing Therapy? (remember them?) one of the few times they played the states...

The only tour of OLP's I've missed a show ...

So, since March is officially here and we still haven't heard about NYC dates for the tour, I'm growing more and more pessimistic. NYC has been great for the guys - when Naveed came out, they did a bunch of shows here within just a few months, not only headlining small rooms (Wetlands), but also ...

Not to make light of mental illness: it's very ...
